by Every year over 600,000 daffodils bloom in Hubbard Park in Meriden, CT, culminating in the Daffodil Festival (in 2023 it’s April 29-30). We stopped in for a visit a few weeks early, and while it didn’t feel like 600,000 daffodils (what does that feel like, exactly?), it may have been because we were early.
Their website says the over 60 varieties typically start blooming early April through mid-May, so we took a chance…forgetting to factor in that it’s spring school vacation, so there was a lot of activity. The landscaping machines and the nearby highway also created a lot of noise, so the peaceful stroll among the flowers that was envisioned for Mr. K was not to be. Fortunately, we found a trail away from the activity and he still got in a nice walk.
