The Apple Valley Model Railroad Club in Hendersonville, N.C. is busy keeping a whole lot of men out of trouble and engaged in building and maintaining a large model train layout in the historic 1902 Hendersonville Railroad Depot. The HO scale trains travel on tracks through several Western North Carolina settings in five or six room spanning 2200 square feet in the building, and is free to the public to visit two afternoons a week.
It is obvious that the club has invested thousands of hours of labor and cash and love into the construction of the layout. Many members were present when we visited, operating trains, making repairs, and happily answering questions about their hobby.
