by My hope when we went to McCrory Gardens in Brookings, South Dakota, was that I’d see lots of flowers while Doug saw lots of birds. It worked out well for me (as you’ll see from the flower photo dump below, but not so great for Doug.
There are 25 acres of formal display gardens, along with 45 acres of arboretum. It’s all operated and maintained by South Dakota State University.
The gardens date back to the 1960s (though they were much smaller then!), and their original purpose for research and teaching remains.
