Dale Chihuly at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art

We went to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art because we generally go to art museums, but I also knew there was a long-term Chihuly exhibit, and of course I didn’t want to miss that.

However, I completely underestimated the exhibit. I expected a few pieces, looking mostly like the works we’ve seen before, such as the macchia bowls and large cone-shaped chandeliers we’ve seen repeatedly in various forms. Boy, was I ever wrong!

*Oklahoma Persian Ceiling.* It’s literally a clear glass ceiling full of arranged glass pieces; this is the view looking up, but it also cast amazing colorful shadows on the wall, too. <<swoon>>

The exhibit was extensive, and featured many wonderful and unique items. My jaw literally dropped open. I was in seventh heaven as we wandered among the pieces.

The items we saw were part of a multi-year exhibit, Chihuly Then and Now: The Collection at Twenty. It primarily featured the museum’s own collection, which is one of the largest public collections of Chihuly glass in the world, though there were some items on loan to the museum, as well.
