I had misjudged my opportunity to go see the Tiffany windows at the First Presbyterian Church in Topeka, Kansas, so wound up seeing them on a mad dash. However, they were absolutely stunning, so I’m glad I made the effort to run in and see them.
The 10 windows were unveiled in 1911, a gift of Josephine Brooks in honor of her late husband Jonathon.
They were designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, who came to Topeka to see the 1884 church before making his proposals. He sent watercolor sketches for approval before proceeding with his creations.
