Myriad Botanical Gardens and Crystal Bridge Conservatory

At 15 acres, the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, (new state!) are relatively small, which was good, because I was there during a heatwave. I was there early in the morning, but it was already hot and humid, and I was glad to be able to zip through the paths taking pictures.

Also on site is the Crystal Bridge Conservatory. It’s just 224 feet long and 70 feet wide, and though it says it’s three floors, that’s really just at either end. The middle section is open from top to bottom, and you can walk along a skywalk and look down into the conservatory.

If I thought it was hot outside, I learned I was mistaken when I entered the conservatory. Though I was through the doors when they opened at 9 a.m., I was in need of a shower by 9:20 a.m. However, it’s the price to pay for flower pictures, and I’m willing to make the sacrifice.

The conservatory from the outside – perhaps you can see how it might heat up in there?
Inside the conservatory. The white tube on the right is the skywalk, and is only waist high – you can walk the length and look down into the conservatory. The white tubes sticking up center left is the Cloud Portal Sculpture.
