by The Baltimore Museum of Art was founded in 1914 and has nearly 100,000 items in its collection. If you’re a Henri Matisse fan, you’d be in heaven – they have more than 1,000 of his works.
And the price is right for a visit — admission is free (though some special exhibits are ticketed). We both found the museum to be rather understated, with nothing especially flashy on display in the European galleries, and thus the quiet elegance of the paintings and sculptures provided a peaceful respite from the busy city outside.
