We spent a couple days in Philly, and I was struck by all the festively decorated window boxes and doors. I wonder if it’s a thing to hire professionals to come decorate for you? It certainly looked professionally done in many cases.
But our big excitement was getting to hear the Wanamaker Organ at Macy’s. Twice a day, six days a week, there’s a short performance – except the first time we went to a scheduled performance there was nothing. It’s been difficult to line up the schedule, but some holiday magic must have made it happen. The 29,000 pipe organ first played in 1911, back when it was a Wanamaker’s Department store.
The cover photo features Philly’s iconic LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana, all lit up by a popup Christmas Village in Love Park. We couldn’t buy anything ’cause we live in a van.
