Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory

The Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory in South Deerfield, Mass., has thousands of butterflies and moths inside their 8,000 square foot conservatory. Sincee butterflies and moths like plants and flowers, there’s lots of that to see, too. A friend from my Protectors of Animals days, Christine Penney, takes amazing pictures (check out her instagram!) and described this place as “magical”, so I’ve had it on my radar to check out. Surprisingly, Doug was not interested, and I will let you guess which picture in this post represents how Doug spent his time while I had this experience. Check out the video at the bottom for an idea what it was like to walk around inside.

How absolutely stunning is this one? I don’t want to admit how long I spent trying to get a picture of one with open wings, but just as I was leaving I got one with bright blue on the “inside” (next picture) and one in bright green (cover photo to post).
The markings on this were just “WOW!”, but the “inside” was completely different – next picture.
The clear wings are so interesting!
Another where the “inside” vs. “outside” was so different (see next pic for a better look at the “inside”).
A top-notch brewery conveniently located less than two miles up the road!
A dragonfly!
Of course you’re going to have some butterflies and moths land on you while you’re here! And there’s my “Mr. K is always with me” ring.
What most of my pictures looked like, LOL (if there was a butterfly in it at all).
