While on a trip to the Isle of Iona in Scotland, William H. Cohea, Jr. was inspired to create what would eventually become Columcille Megalith Park in Bangor, PA.
This small park has 90 megaliths (large stones) arranged from free-standing stones to constructions such as a small tower and a chapel. The stones are locally sourced; the largest is 20 feet tall and weighs 45 tons!
We spent about 45 minutes in the park, letting Mr. K meander among the stones and give everything a good sniff. He marched right up to St. Columbia Chapel, and when we opened the door, he stepped right in. He guided us through Thor’s Gate, and explored fabricated ruins. He was a total champ – maybe he felt the spiritual and healing power these stones are said to possess?
